なんでも相談室では、工学系部局の皆様へカウンセラーのコメントや
利用状況等について定期的（年６回）に発信させていただいております。

みなさん、こんにちは。相談室の石原です。

今年はいつもよりもかなり早く雪解けが進み、春らしい陽気の日も
増えてきました。気象庁によれば桜の開花も早くなるそうで、
そんなニュースを聞いていると気持ちが少し明るくなります。

今月から政府の方針によりマスクの着用が任意になります（大学内
でのルールについては大学ホームページを参照してください）。

マスクの着用は感染症の予防対策の柱の一つであったわけですから、
その着用が任意となることはウィルスとの闘いがまたひとつ終息に
向けて進んだということでとても喜ばしいことだと思います。

マスクについてはいろいろな議論が交わされてきましたが、
予防医学的見地もさることながら公衆マナーやエチケットについて
みんなが考える機会でもあったと思います。

「同じ部屋の同僚が咳きこんでいるのに周囲に気遣いをしない」、
これは今般のウィルスが流行するよりもずっと前に相談室に寄せら
れた相談者からの訴えのひとつです。

今では少し考えにくいことではありますが、流行以前はインフルエ
ンザの流行期であっても所構わず咳をするひとがいる、そんな光景
がありました。

マスクの着用が任意になることで場面に応じた使用が可能になります。
私自身、メガネがすぐに曇ってしまう煩わしさから解放されることは
嬉しくてたまりません。

しかし、この訴えに見られるような状況がマスクを着用することに
よって起こりにくくなっていたのも事実。たとえマスクを外しても
周囲への気遣いが損なわれないように今しばらくの間は状況に応じた
使用を含め、改めてこの機に公衆マナーやエチケットについても
考えておきたいなと思います。気遣いは人間関係を良化させる妙薬
です。

最後になりましたがこの3月でご卒業される学生のみなさん、また
栄転をされる教職員のみなさんにお祝い申し上げます。今後のみな
さんのご活躍を心より祈念しております。

I am very pleased that the wearing of masks has become voluntary,
as it means that the fight against the virus has come to an end.
Regarding masks, I think it was an opportunity for everyone to think about
public manners and etiquette, as well as preventive medicine.

“You don’t pay attention to your surroundings when a colleague in the same
room is coughing.” This is one of the complaints received from the counseling
room long before the outbreak of the virus. Before the epidemic,
there was such a scene that people coughed everywhere even during the flu season.

By making wearing a mask optional, it will be possible to use it according to
the situation. However, it is also true that the situation seen in this appeal
was less likely to occur by wearing a mask. For the time being, I would like to
think about public manners and etiquette again, including usage according to
the situation. Kindness is the medicine that makes relationships better.

Last but not least, I would like to congratulate all the students who will be
graduating this March, as well as the faculty and staff who will be promoted.
